Joanna Stephens became involved in conference and event promotion
while working for the Amsterdam-based Roto Smeets de Boer Publishing
Group in the late Eighties.
As editor-in-chief of Roto Smeets' business publications,
Joanna was responsible for a range of high-level business-led
titles, as well as specialist magazines supporting major European
trade fairs, such as CeBIT, the HISWA yachting event, the ANUGA
and SIAL food fairs, and the Ecotech environmental forum.
She also produced magazines for Hertz, the European
Rotogravure Association (ERA), KLM Royal Dutch Airline, and the
Dutch foreign affairs ministry.
Joanna relocated to the UK in 1998, and since then has worked
as a sub-editor and journalist on Reed MIDEM Organisation publications
for the MIPCOM, MIPTV, MIDEM, MAPIC and MIPIM trade events - a
position she maintains until the present day.
She has also been a sub-editor/feature writer
for various TV, music and media trade publications, including
Television Business International, C21 Media, TV Europe, TV International,
TV Asia. The Musician, and Locations. In addition, she is a regular
contributor to publications produced for the Cannes Lions advertising
festival and the Rose D’or festival.
During the last eight years, she as also worked
as a freelance copywriter and PR consultant for Bray Leino Advertising,
KLM, Primavera Skin Care, Feadship Yachtbuilders and SBS Security
Services.
Joanna graduated from the Lycee de L’Harteloire,
Brest, France and Oxford & County College, Oxford, UK.
